Thanks to my daughter!
I grew up watching my mum sew curtains on our dining table and later took fabric‑shop trips with her. That led me to study clothing design at the London College of Fashion and to work in both menswear and womenswear. Years later, I began sewing curtains for my wife, then for friends, and eventually for clients and businesses in San Francisco. When COVID hit, work stopped and income disappeared. My 9‑year‑old daughter kept pitching an invention and asked me to help sell it on Etsy. She sold a few doll‑bed phone chargers we made, and that gave me the idea to sell curtains on Etsy. I now have an online store to custom‑make every order and serve many more customers across the US. If not for my daughter and Etsy, I don’t know how we’d have made it through COVID.

Flax (Linum usitatissimum) is an ancient plant with a long history and is cultivated for its fiber. The result is linen fabric: strong, breathable, naturally lustrous, and thermally responsive. Because flax fibers are long and cellulose-rich, linen has high tensile strength, good moisture wicking, and a characteristic crisp but softening hand with use and washing. Flax cultivation and processing can be low-impact—especially with dew retting and mechanical processing—making linen a sustainable choice when produced with local, responsibly managed resources.
